The music of Alejandro
Morse is undeniably focused on beauty and harmonic perfection, even if
Morse intentionally tries to hide his innate melodic talents behind layers of
vaporous textures. His sound world is obsessively detailed and stretches
between nervousness and melancholy. Alejandro Morse's 444 offers a collection of electroacoustic compositions
materialized with digital production protocols, evoking a vernacular, Mexican
ambiance. Its tracks are based in the manipulation of actual string instruments
using DSP tools; its sound palette features harp, bass and acoustic guitar
recorded in naturally echoing and reverberating spaces, and then subjected to
various sound processing techniques, microphone feedback, radio frequencies,
static/noise, synthetic sounds and tape loops taken from random field
recordings. The ambience created by these methods aims to reflect on the
emotional imbalance of the human condition. In this album, his third on Umor Rex, you'll find nostalgic
soundscapes of comfort and pain. 444 is a synchronicity symbol, a repeating motif in Alejandro Morse’s life, a random number eternally returning to
remind you who you are.
